Short Description

This proposal seeks funding to expand the Pinkdrop game by creating a mobile app and implementing daily on-chain tournaments and a player-versus-player mode.

These new features, powered by automated smart contracts, aim to significantly enhance user engagement, foster community growth, and attract new people to the Polkadot ecosystem by offering a more accessible and exciting way to experience the game.

What is Pinkdrop?

Pinkdrop is a free, casual browser game designed to introduce players to the Polkadot ecosystem in a fun and interactive way. Players strategically merge balls representing some Parachains with identical ones in order to obtain a bigger Parachain ball, all the way to the ultimate Polkadot ball.

By skillfully merging the Parachain balls, players accumulate points and can keep on playing until one of the balls reaches the game’s bucket upper limit. A leaderboard system ranks the players according to their best score.

Built by the Great Escape team and launched in December 2023, the game has proven very popular with the Polkadot community and beyond, totaling over 225K game sessions played by 14K unique addresses in just 4 weeks.

An updated version of the game featuring new Parachain logos was released on February 26th, 2023. The early metrics we had suggest that players keep on enjoying the game, with many of them proudly calling themselves “Pinkdrop addicts”.

What is Pink?

PINK is an organic, grassroots meme community starting in the Polkadot ecosystem that introduces the Pink gaming universe.

PINK captures new mindshare by reinforcing the image that Polkadot is Pink, a color of positivity and laughter.

Once we capture mindshare around a simple ecosystem narrative, it becomes easier to discuss Polkadot’s compelling tech narratives.

Polkadot - and crypto more generally - needs simpler, more engaging narratives.
PINK gaming experiences encourage fun, adoption and of course, pinkness.

The PINK community is motivated to continue this project and keep promoting its positive ethos while introducing Polkadot to a wider audience.

Through PINK’s first game, Pinkdrop (built by the Great Escape team) successfully attracted thousands of active participants to Polkadot with zero marketing spend. In fact, the only marketing associated with Pinkdrop was player-led, by posting their scores on Twitter, resulting in an ultra-organic inbound to our community.

We want to be able to continue our community’s momentum, and in order to do so, we’d like to build additional Pinkdrop features and promote the game beyond the Polkadot ecosystem.
