Merkle Science paving the way for Institutional Adoption and DeFi Innovation
In the spirit of open governance and collaborative development, we are excited to share our Medium Spender Proposal with the Polkadot community.
Over the past months, Merkle Science has been approached by the community, Parity, and the Web3 Foundation to support the next growth chapter of the Polkadot ecosystem—the Asset Hub.
Merkle Science will provide the Asset Hub with essential compliance and security capabilities—removing critical barriers to institutional adoption, protecting users, and unlocking Polkadot’s next phase of DeFi innovation.
Merkle Science is supporting the launch of the Asset Hub by helping financial institutions and startups meet international compliance standards—unlocking their ability to build and deploy capital within the Polkadot ecosystem. To ensure this growth is sustainable and trusted, Merkle Science is simultaneously enhancing security by providing cross-chain tracing solutions that address key gaps flagged by Parity, such as those exposed in the Parallel Finance exploit. This added layer of security complements the compliance framework by protecting institutional capital and fostering a safer environment for innovation.
UPDATE June 23, 2025:
We are delighted to inform you that we have acted upon the feedback from the Community to work with the Polkadot BD team Velocity Labs to secure the onboarding of the mentioned financial institutions. More specifically, we are delighted to share that we are close to securing the onboarding of crypto.com if our proposal 1586 is successful. We are actively working with Velocity labs to coordinate this project. We hope this demonstrates our commitment to driving the support of the Polkadot hub and we hope to be able to secure your approval after securing this significant milestone.

I'm quite opinionated on this topic.
One of the key goals of Polkadot right now, especially with the new Plaza initiative, is onboarding developers and bring DeFi projects to build on it. This mission goes hand in hand with attracting capital and liquidity to the new AssetHub.
To make that possible, having a robust Know-Your-Transaction system in place for CEXs, on/off-ramps, and bridges to use, is not optional => it’s a MUST
Now, the proposal itself is in my opinion well done: you guys show what you have accomplished previously with Polkadot and what you have achieved with other ecosystems.
For the deliverables part, it would be nice to show some picture of what it should like in the end
Thank you, Charles, for your feedback.
As discussed, our compliance solution is essential for allowing institutional access to the Hub. You can find the achievements we've accomplished with other blockchains on page 6, while page 5 highlights our progress with Polkadot to date. Please let us know if you can see this information. We're also happy to provide a visual representation of the milestones if that would be helpful.
