[Small Spender] Namaste Polkadot: Education and community for Polkadot India (#1449)
GM Polkadot community,
We at India Unlocked, are proposing a comprehensive 4-month educational and community building program across India’s tech ecosystem.
Check out the full proposal here: Namaste Polkadot.
Timeline: 4 Months
Requested Funding: USDT 69,468
Proof of work: TL:DR— We are currently active Arbitrum Ambassadors managing the Namaste Arbitrum Twitter handle. We specialize in regional outreach, having created localized content for both Arbitrum and Venus protocols, along with organizing successful community events (parties, mixers, meetups) across India. Please check the India Unlocked POW doc for more details.
Namaste Polkadot aims to accelerate Polkadot’s growth in India by focusing on three key areas:
1. Educational Content Creation:
• Production of 60 comprehensive educational videos in 6 major Indian languages (English, Hindi, Bengali, Telugu, Tamil, and Gujarati)
• Creation of diverse content including technical blogs, infographics, and social media content
• Development of a “Word of the Day” series covering 137 Polkadot ecosystem terms
2. University Workshop Program:
• Conducting workshops across 15 universities in Northern, Western, and Southern India
• 4-hour intensive sessions covering Polkadot fundamentals, development, and practical applications
• Hands-on wallet creation and interactive learning experiences
• Content creation contests with prizes totalling $200 USD per university
3. Community Building:
• Establishing dedicated social media presence for Namaste Polkadot
• Organizing content creation contests to encourage user-generated content
• Building sustainable university connections for long-term engagement
• Regular ecosystem updates and community engagement activities
Key Success Metrics:
• Target of 250k+ impressions across platforms
• 3% engagement rate
• 300+ participant-generated posts
• 45+ wallet creations per university (Total - 675)
• 80% workshop attendance rate
The initiative addresses the significant gap in multilingual blockchain education in India, which ranks 1st in the 2024 Global Crypto Adoption Index, Chainalysis reports. This proposal leverages India’s strong enthusiasm for emerging technologies while making Polkadot education more accessible to non-English speaking audiences.
If you have any suggestions, questions, or thoughts, feel free to share them. Your input will help us fine-tune and improve the project. We’d appreciate your feedback on this proposal & project.

Hi there
Did you receive any funds from Kusama or Polkadot in the past?
Did you receive any funds or grants from any other eco-system?
Hey @ImdioR ,
Thanks for your response. Let me address your questions:
We haven't previously received any funding from Kusama or Polkadot.
We have worked with several protocols through grants and project-based collaborations:
A. Arbitrum Foundation - Currently serving as Arbitrum ambassadors and managing the Namaste Arbitrum Twitter page.
We also received an education grant to conduct roadshows and create educational content in regional languages. View our work here.
B. Devcon Foundation - Received a promotion grant in July-August to organize community meetups. Check it out here.
C. Venus Protocol - Created long-form educational videos and organized a major event during India Blockchain Week. See our work here.
Thanks,
India Unlocked

We'd prefer to have the bounties take charge of this effort. Unlike Arbitrum, Polkadot has bounties which are specific activity sub-treasuries that we deem are more suitable for this referendum in particular.
Not only newcomers are redirected to these bounties but pretty much everyone who wants to create events, marketing material, media, etc. are heavily encouraged to use them.
Hi @Saxemberg Governance,
Thank you for clarifying your perspective regarding the bounty system. We understand that Polkadot's structure differs from Arbitrum's, with dedicated bounties serving as activity-specific sub-treasuries.
While we appreciate this recommendation, our concern remains about the fragmentation of our proposal. Our proposal is designed as an integrated initiative where each component reinforces the others - events drive content creation, localized content supports community building, and so on.
However, we're open to learning more about how the bounty system could work for our integrated approach. Would you be willing to guide us on how we might structure our initiative to align with Polkadot's preferred framework while maintaining the synergy between our different activities?
We're open to following community best practices while delivering the maximum value.
Thanks
