Namaste Polkadot: Education and community for Polkadot India
GM Polkadot community,
We at India Unlocked, are proposing a comprehensive 4-month educational and community building program across India’s tech ecosystem.
Check out the full proposal here: Namaste Polkadot.
Timeline: 4 Months
Requested Funding: USDt 69,468
Proof of work: TL:DR— We are currently active Arbitrum Ambassadors managing the Namaste Arbitrum Twitter handle. We specialize in regional outreach, having created localized content for both Arbitrum and Venus protocols, along with organizing successful community events (parties, mixers, meetups) across India. Please check the India Unlocked POW doc for more details.
Namaste Polkadot aims to accelerate Polkadot’s growth in India by focusing on three key areas:
1. Educational Content Creation:
• Production of 60 comprehensive educational videos in 6 major Indian languages (English, Hindi, Bengali, Telugu, Tamil, and Gujarati)
• Creation of diverse content including technical blogs, infographics, and social media content
• Development of a “Word of the Day” series covering 137 Polkadot ecosystem terms
2. University Workshop Program:
• Conducting workshops across 15 universities in Northern, Western, and Southern India
• 4-hour intensive sessions covering Polkadot fundamentals, development, and practical applications
• Hands-on wallet creation and interactive learning experiences
• Content creation contests with prizes totalling $200 USD per university
3. Community Building:
• Establishing dedicated social media presence for Namaste Polkadot
• Organizing content creation contests to encourage user-generated content
• Building sustainable university connections for long-term engagement
• Regular ecosystem updates and community engagement activities
Key Success Metrics:
• Target of 250k+ impressions across platforms
• 3% engagement rate
• 300+ participant-generated posts
• 45+ wallet creations per university
• 80% workshop attendance rate
The initiative addresses the significant gap in multilingual blockchain education in India, which ranks 1st in the 2024 Global Crypto Adoption Index, Chainalysis reports. This proposal leverages India’s strong enthusiasm for emerging technologies while making Polkadot education more accessible to non-English speaking audiences.
If you have any suggestions, questions, or thoughts, feel free to share them. Your input will help us fine-tune and improve the project. We’d appreciate your feedback on this proposal & project.
Looking forward to hearing from you!

Thank you for your proposal and for reaching out to us for comment. It is great to see that India is getting more interest in Polkadot, we would like to see more efforts in that region for sure.
About the referendum: Given that this content doesn't cover a heavy technical curriculum or programming materials so that could be used to create new devs and it's more directed towards a general audience and at an introductory level with a diverse amount of events and actions, it'd be preferable to be split into smaller pieces and redirected towards the following:
The events bounty: Who should be able to cover the in person events and possiby seeding a continuous effort in India with the Polkadot Roots program. https://linktr.ee/dotevents_
The marketing bounty: Most of the media that’s going to be published online for future consumption could be applied to the marketing bounty as they are now the ones in charge for media creation and should be able to support with reports. https://marketingbounty.notion.site/Marketing-Bounty-13c4aaf5ccba80269a48eccdf80353d8
The Ambassador fellowship: Reach out to the Polkadot ambassadors in India, they will be able to guide this interest into a more streamlined and defined long term plan. The Polkadot ambassador fellowship is still under heavy development so it’s going to be a bit harder this way. https://x.com/dotfellowship
A smaller request on OpenGov: 70k for a first referendum is something that will likely be denied due to the risk that it represents. Many tokenholders would prefer to see smaller deliveries first, such as successful individual events and then increase the expenditure progressively and based on results.
In our opinion, this path is better for new proposals who will in turn create more positive on-chain reputation as well as smaller deliveries without creating a risk for the treasury which has already funded educational and media abandonware.
Gm everyone,
We wanted to share an update on our presentation at yesterday's AAG call. We received valuable feedback from the team, particularly from Mario, Jay, and Tommi.
Let me address the key points discussed:
Regarding proof of work: We have a strong track record of successful initiatives in the Indian market, including:
• Namaste Arbitrum: Link
• Namaste Venus: Link
Both projects demonstrate our expertise in market entry and creating educational content in regional languages.
On educational content: While we acknowledge that comprehensive educational content exists on Polkadot's YouTube channels, our unique value proposition lies in reaching untapped Indian audiences through:
• Content in 5 regional languages
• Access to underserved communities
• Localized engagement strategies
University Initiative: The team particularly appreciated our university-focused approach, recognizing it as an effective way to:
• Access previously unreached student developers
• Build grassroots presence in academic institutions
• Create direct connections with emerging talent
Looking forward to incorporating this feedback into our next steps and more feedback from the community.
