Amazingly, there are over *10+* teams implementing JAM:

Some teams are starting to pass the first few tests with available [test vectors, ](<https://github.com/w3f/jamtestvectors/>)are asking detailed questions about the [JAM Gray Paper](<https://graypaper.com>) in the [GP Chat Room](<https://matrix.to/#/#graypaper:polkadot.io>) and [JAM Chat Room](<https://matrix.to/#/#jam:polkadot.io>).

With Devcon 7 in Thailand in November (tickets going on sale again July 30 [here](<https://tickets.devcon.org/>) ). and sub0 proposed to happen in LATAM, we would like propose a JAM0 event to bring these teams together.

We have at least \*SIX\* *serious implementors* who are interested in going to Devcon 7 and can connect their JAM implementations with each other. This proposal aims to support their Devcon tickets and get the bulk of each team's travel budget reimbursed, up to $7.5K/team (with travel receipts, like 3-4 people/team on average). As of Fall 2024, "serious implementors" should be pretty close to passing "JAM Milestone 1" and not be in "just learning" mode, be able to pass "Block Import" tests (when available) or at least passing most all test vectors available and know \_exactly\_ where they are bottlenecked, and basically be ready to network their implementations with other teams with [QUIC](<https://hackmd.io/@polkadot/jamsnp>) at an event like this.

Budget: (estimated $118,313=19K DOT*$6.227/DOT)

- $75,000 Travel (10 teams x $7.5K/team)
- $43,313 Venue + Food for JAM Implementors + core devs working on PolkaVM + related tooling

Any unused budget from securing will be applied to a similar JAM0 event at sub0 (also focussed on _implementers+protocol devs_).

Instead of using EMA7+EMA30 guesswork (which predictably gets unpredictable results, especially this week 😅) and asking for annoying topups later when DOT falls, this process saves everyone from all that guesswork and gets stable results.

Instead of proposers getting paid everything up front (too risky for OpenGov Treasury) or paid retroactively if  it passes (too risky for proposer), proposers  can deliver milestone by milestone with this FAIR utility.batch.

If proposers fail to deliver, OpenGov can use treasury.voidSpend to cancel the proposal execution. 

This means: NO MORE TOP UPS!

Common to the above is that Web3 ecosystem participants want to share on-chain data, which Dune is optimized for, better than a block explorer ([Subscan - #311](https://polkadot.polkassembly.io/referenda/311)) or expensive dashboards ([Dolpha.com - #341](https://polkadot.polkassembly.io/referenda/341)). Colorful Notion has built [substrate-etl - #248](https://polkadot.polkassembly.io/referenda/248), here proposed to be ingested by Dune as *substrate-etl 2.0* in 2024.

## Proposal - Onboard Polkadot + Kusama Data on Dune (12 months, 3/15/24-3/14/25)

Colorful Notion proposes to onboard the Polkadot + Kusama relay chains by mid-March 2024, available for the community for at least _2 years_. This proposal funds the _first_ year after a PoC is completed in early 2024, for 3/15/24 - 3/14/25. Onboarding Polkadot will be Dune’s second non-EVM ecosystem integration, after Solana. Separate from this OpenGov proposal, Colorful Notion has negotiated pricing for all parachains with Dune, beyond the Polkadot and Kusama Relay Chain. This will enable Polkadot + Kusama Substrate data to be represented in Dune for both relay chains (using "polkadot" and "kusama") and all Polkadot parachains in an official integration with hourly indexing. 

# Demonstration: Polkadot Staking Dashboard

In December 2023, Colorful Notion developed a proof of concept with key Dune engineers for the Polkadot Relay Chain with a few representative datasets. Here is one of the first Polkadot dashboards built in Dune:

Once data is ingested from Colorful Notion’s substrate-etl into Dune, this dashboard can be rapidly constructed within a couple hours from SQL knowledgeable engineers such as Colorful Notion cofounder [@mkchungs](https://polkadot.polkassembly.io/user/mkchungs). Here is one query:

Any on-chain dataset from Polkadot or Kusama involves writing a query such as the against some substrate-etl 2.0 dataset. Colorful Notion’s commercial terms have been developed to allow for a certain amount of storage ingesting a certain number of chains so that “Dune wizards” can query these tables, views, and materialized views and produce shareable charts like the above. 

Everyone with a Dune account can query and build these dashboards in Dune. While Google BigQuery can be connected to open source Apache Superset (and we have, see our W3F grant work on [Deep Account Analytics](https://github.com/w3f/Grants-Program/pull/1286) and inkubator-supported [ChainIDE + Polkaholic.io WASM Contract Explorer Integration](https://github.com/use-inkubator/Grant-Milestone-Delivery/blob/master/deliveries/chainide-polkaholic-integrated-wasm-contract-explorer-integration-milestone_1.md)), Dune is more usable and more shareable. 

Whereas much of 2022 involved developing Polkaholic.io and 2023 involved substrate-etl 1.0 bringing data into Google BigQuery, Colorful Notion will have 2024 involve robust ingestion of Polkadot and Kusama data into Dune and ensuring the community can use it to support blockchain analytics and marketing.

# December 2023 Decision For DOT Tokenholders: Dune Now or late 2024?

Colorful Notion has been advocating a Polkadot Data Alliance Bounty along with Parity Data throughout much of 2023 (see [this from CN](https://docs.google.com/document/d/1ryC6dxcd9tiQsB7KiCc2BY_TwBJ5jKloGfCyVAGCkKo/edit#heading=h.gjdgxs) and [this from Parity Data](https://docs.google.com/document/d/1fA5ARHy-frzgZC66rniKZ5o7CSbDvCTkS--kWaMzuMs/edit#heading=h.foftxwdr3st2)). In November, we finally decided to submit #248 and reach out to Dune as an outstanding goal of both teams. From the DOT Tokenholder point of view, once it is accepted that an ecosystem wide Dune integration is desirable and both teams are competent (as we do), we believe the decision is largely a tradeoff between Dune NOW vs Dune LATER:

[substrate-etl](https://github.com/colorfulnotion/substrate-etl) is a large scale index of Polkadot + Kusama and their parachains based on [Polkaholic.io](https://polkaholic.io), a multichain block explorer/indexer.  Using this data warehouse, anyone can query decoded blocks, extrinsics, events, calls across both ecosystems.

Colorful Notion is led by [Sourabh Niyogi](https://forum.polkadot.network/u/sourabhniyogi) and [Michael Chung](https://forum.polkadot.network/u/mkchungs), based in the SF Bay Area. **Short Description:**

Support Colorful Notion’s Polkaholic.io open source XCM/Multichain block explorer, indexing of all Polkadot + Kusama + parachain data with a special emphasis on XCM Transfers / Messages, made available in UI/API/CDN/BigQuery form to support  Polkadot ecosystem’s multichain initiatives.

**Proposal Summary:**

Colorful Notion proposes to:
- Expose and maintain public archive of all the raw data indexed by Polkaholic.io (blocks, extrinsics, events and traces) available in CDN form and then in BigQuery form and indexed data (specifically and especially XCM transfers and XCM messages) in API form
- Continue to index all Polkadot chains to the fullest extent possible to generate and maintain the archive with APIs, which may be relied upon by large scale archival systems.  These APIs maintain Value transfers/XCM transfers according to DEX info on top  “defi” parachains
- Model XCM Transfers and Messages across the entire Polkadot/Kusama ecosystem
- Enhance Polkaholic.io indexing as the Polkadot ecosystem expands: New parachains, new pallets generating XCM extrinsics/messages  with new XC Assets, support for ERC20/PSP22/ERC721/PSP34 assets, XCMv3, and new bridges

This multistage payout mechanism could be used by Big/Medium/Small Spender proposers for meeting time-based milestones or product-based milestones. It can almost certainly can be used for DOT payments as well. 

Assuming this passes (and the staged payout mechanics works in Polkadot), we imagine someone could submit a `treasury.voidSpend` on the 3rd payment (or 2nd payment). This is not because we believe OnlyDefiGuy doesn't deserve 3000 USDC (we do, because dragon fighting is _hard work_), but because it is clear the community learning this "voiding skill" can be explored to significant effect.

Or maybe OnlyDefiGuy will fight off enough dragons by then =)

Note: 
* #780 is in DOT but exceeds the 250 DOT Small Tipper track limit (150+300+599 = 1049 > 250 DOT)
* #781 is in DOT but exceeds the 1000 DOT Big Tipper track limit (150+300+599 = 1049 > 1000 DOT) -- this is expected to FAIL when the proposal is enacted (if 781 passes) 
* #782 is in USD but should not exceed the 1000 DOT Big Tipper track limit (1000+2000+3000=6000 USD < 1000 DOT). This does not use the asset conversion pallet but instead uses a 10 USD / DOT assumption so 100+200+300 DOT = 600 DOT < 1000 DOT will mean this will SUCCEED if the proposal is enacted (if 782 passes)

Report : Proposal #684 Chainalysis analytics solutions on Polkadot Relay Network

Our team at Colorful Notion tabulated this dashboard <a href="https://dune.com/substrate/polkadot-and-kusama-decentralized-voices">Decentralized Voices on Dune</a> this past month (see also <a href="https://forum.polkadot.network/t/decentralized-voices-the-story-so-far/7076/9">forum post</a>) and to the best of our knowledge these Polkadot DVs aren't getting paid to do the kind of quality analyses they do, including commenting on this forum. &nbsp; There are a LOT of proposals, and doing this work is not easy. &nbsp; They act as general purpose "DOT experts", which we believe is tip worthy.
This tip is for Decentralized Voices OpenGov voters who have put in a LOT of time and energy this month, and sheer courage. &nbsp;

MVP Workshop and Colorful Notion are 2 long-term Polkadot ecosystem teams who have worked together successfully this Spring and seek to work together for the rest of 2024. This proposal concerns retroactive funding for dotswap v1 for Q1/Q2 2024, and support for v2 development and hosting dotswap.org for Q3/Q4 2024.

[dotswap.org](https://dotswap.org) aims to be a full-fledged interface for users to manage Asset Hub-related assets, with key functionality of swapping assets using a new assetConversion pallet on Asset Hub, as well as basic gateway between Asset Hub and the Relay Chain (v1) and major parachains (v2) and Ethereum (via [Snowbridge](https://polkadot.subsquare.io/referenda/944)). Following the [Asset Hub Vision](https://forum.polkadot.network/t/assethub-vision/6934) and the new [Polkadot app](https://x.com/Polkadot/status/1811342289735655651), we envision dotswap.org to be accessible for _everyone_, from beginners to lightweight traders rather than just advanced traders and Polkadot experts.

#### Feature: Foreign Asset Support (WETH/WBTC/…, MYTHOS/…)

Through Snowbridges and standard parachain channels, Asset Hub will have assets from:
* Ethereum eg WETH + WBTC + PEPE + SHIB (possible now, tested [here](https://x.com/colorfulnotion/status/1808927242803892637))
* Any parachain e.g. MYTHOS (possible soon, testing in progress as of July 2024)

#### Feature: DOT/X + X/USD Graph presentation

Recent swap activity for any assets (measured against DOT or USD) will be accessible from the Swap page and Dashboard page. A third-party API call be used to fetch the graph data, cached from BigQuery / Dune on a regular basis:

#### Feature: Pool Volume + APY presentation

While liquidity pool providers are a tiny portion of any DEXes user base, they are critical to its healthy functioning. In v2 we add standard functionality to show a liquidity pool provider their Asset Hub pool contributions, their USD value, the recent APR (based on 7d or 30d average activity), TVL, as well as easy access to add and remove liquidity to any pool.

#### Feature: Info Bubbles / Tutorial Bubbles

To give newbie/non-expert Polkadot users a walkthrough of Dotswap.org functionality, each major section will have a small tour. This is intended to provide users with comfort with Polkadot’s multi chain peculiarities:

#### Feature: Local Transfer features

To make it easy to send assets between addresses within Asset Hub, the basic transfer functionality of polkadot.js is encapsulated so that “everything can be done in one place”.

#### Feature: Cross-chain to/from HydraDX + Moonbeam + Mythos

In v2, dotswap will be extended to support cross chain transfers to and from top defi parachains (Hydration [Substrate] and Moonbeam [EVM] + Mythos). Initial viability testing has been conducted already for top assets for Hydration and Moonbeam and will be extended to support Mythos for the [upcoming airdrop](https://dune.com/substrate/mythos).

#### Feature: Asset Admin and Create Pool

Historically, creators/minters of assets on Asset Hub have had to use polkadot.js to create new assets and set up new pools. In v2, dotswap.org will be extended to support all major methods:
* assets.create - a user can create a new assetID
* assets.setMetadata - a user can set the name, symbol and decimals of an assetID
* assets.setTeam - a user can set the issuer, freezer, admin an assetID
* assets.mint - if an issuer, the user can mint some amount of an assetID to any beneficiary
* assets.burn - if an admin, the user can burn some amount of an assetID
* assetConversion.createPool - the user can create a pool for assets where there is no existing pool, and the user has at least some of that asset

For each of the above operations, a dedicated modal will be provided for seamless interaction. While this advanced feature is not for everyone, it is a significant feature of Asset Hub to be able to create new assets, pools and have them be fee-paying.

Colorful Notion proposes to run $720K in On-Brand Twitter ads to Increase awareness of On-brand Polkadot messages from the Twitter accounts of Polkadot, Polkadot Parachains + Projects ecosystem-wide.

This is a follow-on to [OpenGov Ref #324](https://polkadot.polkassembly.io/referenda/324) and increases spend from $50K/mo (see <a href="https://dune.com/substrate/324-opengov">Polkadot OpenGov Ref #324 Transparency Report (March 31, 2024)</a>) to $90K/mo, promoting messages Polkadot-ecosystem wide in a larger range of countries. The ongoing #324 campaign has been boosting tweets from the following accounts:

## Objections raised by DVs and the broader community .. and our proposal adjustments!

### Overall spend of $200K/month is too much!

We adjusted the proposal. Instead of increasing $50K/mo spend to $200K/mo, we increased to $90K/mo spend. Its an 80% increase. 

### That is still too much money!

No, $90K/mo is not. Polkadot is a $10B market cap company. Crypto Twitter has not yet taken over by Farcaster, Subsocial, Mastodon in sufficient numbers. The reach of 10MM+ Twitter users is there. Most of those people can be targeted with Addressable and Twitter direct at scale. 

### How dare you promote DED!

It was _definitely_ reasonable at the time to promote a 100% community generated token in Dec/Jan: ***Because I am not an omniscient God**, I could not predict what would happen in March back in Dec/Jan. However, it is no longer reasonable as of mid-March. 

As to memecoins, I hate them too. Unfortunately, they are a part of what happens in Web3. BTC, DOGE, SHIB are all memecoin. They attract users. We have to relax and bring real people into the ecosystem to have fun. Polkadot is capable of everything.

### Do not promote giotto tweets. He is a _______

Done! Promoting giotto content was useful in December in January but there is no need anymore as he is a DED activist rather than a DOT activist. Lets keep our blood pressure low and stay healthy and breathe the fresh air! 

### Lack of transparency

This report should cover it! All the raw data is in a table. You can query it. If you have an idea on how to weight the future marketing, please share! 

### This is all very random! You should have a meticulous plan in Month 1 of what should happen in Month 4.

False! Invention happens in the Polkadot ecosystem at extremely high rates. Ecosystem wide marketing of Polkadot cannot be a single campaign promoting _one thing_. You cannot know in December what will happen in April. One day its CoreJam, another day its JAM. That's part of the reason why we love Polkadot.

That said, you can have very focussed campaigns promoting ONE thing each month, e.g Polkadot+AI in April, Polkadot+Gaming in May, Polkadot+SocialNetworking in June, etc. But then the AI people not getting any voice in the other 11 months makes little sense. There is nothing wrong with a focussed based approach being combined

### You are not a marketing professional!

False. I've done advertising startups my whole career. I've done $150MM of TAC in my life, $144K is nothing. I bought from Twitter's Mopub had Twitter as a advertiser in previous startups I've founded. But in this context, I understand what Twitter+Addressable is doing very well, and because the colorful notion team is doing ecosystem wide Dune integration, we follow most activity in the ecosystem closer than non-Polkadot people could.

### Lack of closed-loop optimization 

It is true that almost of the activity is for pure awareness, and is optimized for eCPE. But Web3 people do not like being tracked! 

### Everything should be in bounties. Or a collective.

No. While I agree that having more people look at something and advise on how to improve something is definitely useful, adding a bunch of curators or having N other people in a collective would not help. If I screwed up in executing in 324, someone can say what I did wrong. At the end of the day, 1 person has to push a button and N people can complain about it after the fact but NOT marketing at all makes little sense. 

### Distractive should do it instead.

Probably! Distractive is extremely capable and has wonderful positive people. I have met with them and should this pass or fail, we are super happy to work with them collaboratively. This data has been provided to Distractive's Katie Butler and the entire universe. 

### How dare you use your own account to run ads and promote yourself! 

This is not a serious objection. Whereas the TheKus #298 ran ads that was "Follow the Kus!" and showcased The Kus in dozens of video content (which I love and see nothing wrong with), I did not. Our ads were like these:

If you think these are ads are somehow problematic, that's just too bad.
