What is Substrate?

Substrate is a development framework that allows maximizing the efforts of different teams that today are spread all over the world. With it, you can build a blockchain from scratch and launch it in hours.

Without a tool like Substrate, it would be impossible to deal with all the complexity of the DotSama ecosystem and make it move forward at the current speed.

But How All This Happens?

In fact it is not something magical or mysterious. But pure systems architecture. Substrate was designed to be a huge library of open source, customizable components that connect to each other to meet complex needs, called [Pallets](https://substrate.io/technology/flexible/).

Each of them is dedicated to a specific function of the network. And as the ecosystem itself becomes more complex, more Pallets will be generated forming a gigantic digital lego.

Substrate was born from looking at multiplicity. That only a network with a general purpose would not really be able to deal with all the things that exist in the real plane but that we really need to achieve them as the purpose of Web3.

And that we must go further, shaping the world around us in light of all the technology and shared knowledge that we have access to. And that's the gist of it all.
