Restricting games bounty (38) from investing in games related to mythical
There is the risk that in future an excessive amount of treasury funds may be directed towards mythical. While it is obvious that the partnership between Polkadot and mythical is extremely beneficial to both parties, allowing mythical to process a number of transactions that would be impossible on any other chain and allowing Polkadot to showcase its technical prowess we also have to remain open to many other future partnerships and not exclusively focus on mythical. Mythical will already receive 1 million DOT from treasury in exchange for an airdrop of mythical token. This is of course great for both parties to solidify a winning partnership. However if we want to become the biggest platform for games we also have to be welcoming to other games, that's why Games Bounty [38] was created. I think it is important in order to allow fair competition and multiple opportunities to ensure that games bounty is not going to be used to fund activities related to mythical but instead focus on other games so that we can welcome diversity and competition. The request of this referendum is that the curators of Bounty 38 should not be allowed to fund anything related to mythical for the reasons I explained above

Fair approach
The top priority of Dot Play is to advance *Polkadot* in gaming. We will achieve this by focusing on the highest growth genres and the largest audiences within gaming, by building branded experiences, essential integration tools, and by providing a sustainable business model for the Polkadot treasury.
Mythical's success as one of the most successful applications in crypto broadly, and its position as #1 blockchain gaming company across all ecosystems, allows us to lean into this success and create synergistic, win/win scenarios between new studios and Mythical. This will only further fortify Polkadot's foundation as the first stop for game developers who are interested in building games which integrate blockchain mechanics.
We agree that it is time to expand well beyond Mythical and invest our time and resources in new developers, in new large audiences, and in new games outside of Mythical, but an all or nothing approach which separates Mythical is difficult to comprehend.
As discussed, our strategy will provide a new way to create long term sustainability for the Polkadot treasury by entering into revenue share agreements with our target investments, thereby replenishing the Treasury and growing our impact. We have identified top developer studios working at the forefront of social gaming, AI, tools and user generated content (“UGC”) platforms that tap into mass market audiences and highlight Polkadot as the optimal Web3 solution for gaming. An example in which including Mythical might make sense is our goal to build Conor Daly into a game. Mythical is the publisher of a racing game, Nitro Nation, which drew 80 million players to its first game. If we search for top studios for our racing game with Conor, and if Nitro Nation happens to offer the most compelling ROI for the Polkadot ecosystem, it would be difficult to turn it down. In fact, it might be a scenario in which one plus one equal more than two due to positive synergies.
Another example is Mythical's D-Market for NFTs. Currently, a wide variety of web2 digital assets from games such as CS:GO (Counter Strike Global Offensive) trade on Mythical's platform. We are already speaking with Gautam about how we might build a marketplace for our Dot Play studios which either operate on a standalone basis or integrate with Mythical DMarket, to provide interoperability with games like NFL Rivals and Pudgy Penguins. More interoperability will add to Polkadot's platform value in gaming.
Having already invested significant capital into Mythical as Signum Growth, and having already worked with the team who shepherded them into Polkadot, our goal is not to invest financial capital from Polkadot treasury, but to continue to contribute intellectual capital. There are many ways we can leverage Mythical's success into building Polkadot as the gaming hub for blockchain, and from time to time, there may be ways in which new studios and Mythical will win financially. Again, Dot Play’s goal is to position Polkadot as the top blockchain solution for games, which would necessarily include Mythical, the #1 blockchain gaming company across all blockchain ecosystems!
We welcome criticism and questions so thank you for raising this, Giotto!
