Markedot: Marketplace and marketing with profits for the Polkadot and Kusama community.
Hello Polkadot community,
DAOs need business models that allow them to ensure the continuity of their project and therefore of their community; this can only be achieved by generating income that allows the DAO to continue its operations.
Markedot.com aims to sale items with the polkadot and kusama brands through markedot.com, which includes t-shirts, caps, mugs, stickers, hoodies, bags and much more and at the same time promote the ecosystem throught marketing and content creation. 100% of the profits from the sales will go to the treasury and can be used at the convenience of the community.
The budget will be used for:
Six months of work from November 2023 to March 2024 including:

The creation of collections with the Polkadot and Kusama brand.

Campaigns on social networks to promote the sale of items with the Polkadot and Kusama brands. (X, Instagram, Tiktok)

Markedot proposal include campaings on social networks such as X, Instagram and Tiktok which is why we think this project cover both not only content creation but ecommerce as well in order to look for cost-effectiveness and we think in this way we can reach more potential users at the same time we generate profits for the community.
Markedot will share metrics each month in a monthly report that include:

Sales obtained and profits generated. (most selled products, products with higher profits, top selling location, etc)

Same metrics of content creators (views, likes, shares, comments, visibility in general).
How does the Polkadot community benefit from this proposal?

The community will generate profits by selling Polkadot and Kusama branded items. These profits will be sent to the Treasury where the community can use them at their convenience.

Markedot will conduct social media marketing campaigns to promote the sale of items with the Polkadot and Kusama brands (X, Instagram, Tiktok).

Event organizers in the Polkadot ecosystem will have a Marketplace available to purchase their favorite products and individual token holders or Polkadot enthusiasts will have a Marketplace available to purchase their favorite products.

By selling items that carry the Polkadot and Kusama brand, both ecosystems are made known, this is because each person who buys an item with the Polkadot and Kusama logos indirectly becomes an ambassador who publicizes the projects in their social environment.

Markedot.com provides one more alternative to generate income for NFT Marketplaces and NFT artists in the Polkadot and Kusama ecosystems.

- Isabel: Polkadot Senior Ambassador.
Isabel from Spain has been contributing to the Polkadot ecosystem since June 2022 by creating content about Polkadot & Kusama on YouTube, Twitter and Medium (interviews, reels, newsletters, translations, articles and threads). She has also participated in Polkadot World event in Madrid as part of the Social Media Marketing team, and as MC at Polkadot Decoded 2023 in Copenhaguen.
- Luis: Polkadot Ambassador.
Luis is a computer systems engineer and has participated in the Polkadot ecosystem since 2022, spreading the word and attending events such as Polkadot Decoded 2023 that took place in Denmark and Polkadot Hub Mexico. Luis’ main goal is to implement Polkadot Blockchain Tecnology for traditional businesses.
- Erick Ramos: Polkadot Senior Ambassador.
Erick is from Mexico, he has a great passion for the Polkadot and Kusama ecosystem since 2020. In 2022, together with other ambassadors, they created the Polkadot Mexico community to promote education and the adoption of the Polkadot ecosystem throughout the country's region. He has created educational content on twitter (X) and on YouTube in Spanish. He has great educational technical knowledge of different parachains of the ecosystem. Since when he participates in face-to-face events or conducts workshops, he does so in the best possible way so that the user learns correctly.
His favorite parachain is KILT Protocol since he is passionate about digital identity and partnership with Deloitte for the promotion of institutional and professional adoption for the Web3 ecosystem.

We are supportive of new, out-of-the-box ways to generate treasury income.
That said, we have a few questions:
Are you able to share any metrics that would highlight Markedot's e-commerce prowess or ability to sell products online?
What would be the expected return to the treasury for this funding?
Have you legally obtained the right to use the Kusama/Polkadot logos on these products?

Thank you for taking the time to read our proposal and for your feedback, we appreciate it.
Every company must precisely determine its objectives, as well as define the means to achieve them, such as policies, systems and procedures.
Please note that Markedot was founded solely and specifically to generate benefits for the Polkadot ecosystem community. Therefore, we require community approval to begin working to achieve the objectives and goals.
Setting objectives is a complex task, since it is the starting point for adequate planning.
That said, the objectives that Markedot must pursue are the following:
The previous order is due to the sequence in which the objectives will be achieved to maximize the community's investment.
To achieve the objectives of Markedot, the goals must be set clearly, including the following:
Plan the growth of the company, visualizing its requirements in advance, both tactically and strategically.
Capture the resources necessary for the company's progress.
Allocate said resources according to the company's plans and needs.
Promote the optimal use of financial resources.
Minimize investment uncertainty.
Once the above is understood Markedot will share metrics each month in a monthly report that includes:
Sales obtained and profits generated. (most sold products, products with higher profits, top selling location, etc)
Same metrics of content creators (views, likes, shares, comments, visibility in general).
This information will help the community decide if the team is doing a good job and if it is worth continuing. Of course our first objective is survival and growth. We can only achieve this through self-sustainability that will allow us to remain in the long term without requiring recurring funding from the Treasury.
To answer your question, we must first consider that Markedot meets two objectives:
The first is the promotion of the ecosystem and the reach of new users through content creation (X, Instagram, Tiktok). Which will be reflected in the incorporation of new users, which in turn will strengthen the community, making it more robust.
The second is to achieve self-sustainability, in other words, the survival and growth of the project without the need for permanent funding through the Treasury. So that we can then have positive results for the community by earning positive income.
Unlike other proposals, Markedot not only seeks a positive impact for the community, but also to become a self-sustaining project. In the future, Markedot should be self-sustaining and at the same time even have the ability to generate income for the community.

Markedot is a project founded by community members for the benefit of the community, we intend to use the Polkadot/Kusama logos as any member of the DAO would do for the benefit of the community, however, if this presents any problem or special permission is required that prevents us from using said logos, the team can develop its own collections and collaborations.
Markedot team members have been collaborating with the polkadot ecosystem long before launching this initiative, without receiving any salary for the work done. Regardless of the outcome of this proposal we will continue to promote the community.
If you take into account that the team is made up of 3 people and you review the budget we are requesting for 6 months of work, you will realize that in no way do we intend to take advantage of the treasury, but on the contrary we try to bring value to the community.
We hope to be one of the projects that build the solid foundations of this great community.
