16DG here. I want to discuss and make public the strategy we use to vote for proposals related to content creation. In the last few months we have been voting yes very generously to content creation proposals in order to attract more proposals so that later on we can be more picky regarding the proposals. I'm happy to see that more content creation proposals are coming. So I think now it's time to define some guidelines for new proposals but also for future renewals of current proposals since of course as the number of proposals is going to increase we will not be able to be so generous with the yes and we will have to make choices. We have tried to think of an objective KPI which cannot be gamed, so clearly it cannot be views or subscribers or likes which can easily be purchased. The best option seems to use as a metric for deciding how good a content creator is the quality of the people he/she can interview. This is because the time of the most interesting people to interview is scarce, so once there are many content creators it's not that they will give interviews to hundreds of content creators, they will choose the best ones, so they will act as the gatekeepers. So in the future we will only renew funding for proposals that demonstrate that they can attract high quality people to interview. If you're applying for the first time we suggest that you apply for maximum 3 months of funding and try to get some good interviews with some quality people. If you succeed we will renew your funding as long as you can produce quality interviews. If you fail we will not renew your funding. We will only fund content creators that are able to get quality interviews. This is the best metric that cannot be gamed. We are not saying that proposals should be made only of quality interviews, of course explanatory videos are also useful but that's not the metric you will be measured on. The point is it's useless to have hundreds of content creators all produce explanatory videos that are basically going to be the same, so we have to use a criteria that introduce a hurdle that only allowes the few best people to get funding and the criteria is the validation of the people that can decide if to accept or not the interview.
