ELLIPAL Self-custody Cold Wallet 1 Proposal: DOT/KSM Tokens, Staking,ASTR & GLMR Parachains&Tokens,DOT/KSM/ ASTR/GLMR Swap,WalletConnect v2,Polkadot Wallet Integration
Hey community!
We're looking to integrate the Polkadot and parachains ecosystem with the ELLIPAL hardware wallet.
ELLIPAL Self-custody Cold Wallet 1 Proposal:
● DOT/KSM Tokens, Staking
● ASTR & GLMR Parachains&Tokens
● DOT/KSM/ ASTR/GLMR Swap
● WalletConnect v2
● Polkadot Wallet Integration
● In line with this principle, we will also expand our development to include other Polkadot parachains.
☆ Commercial Value
● Substantial User Base & AUM With 800K wallet users and over $4B in managed assets, ELLIPAL has a strong presence in the market. We are currently in the process of extensively optimizing our mobile app, with a comprehensive marketing push to follow upon completion. This initiative is projected to drive user engagement and growth rates. Additionally, our ongoing collaboration with MetaMask is broadening our user base, further enhancing the liquidity and engagement within the Polkadot ecosystem.
● Global Reach ELLIPAL's presence in 140+ countries and collaboration with 80+ global resellers amplifies our global traction. This international reach can be leveraged to bolster Polkadot's global adoption and resonance.
● Vibrant Community Network With 3000+ affiliates and influencers in our fold, we have the grassroots marketing power to augment Polkadot's outreach and foster community growth.
● Ease of Integration for Emerging Parachains With the incorporation of Polkadot's features, we anticipate a twofold acceleration in the addition of other Parachains, guaranteeing swift responsiveness in upcoming Parachain developments.
☆ Features set of ELLIPAL Hardware Wallet
● Air-gapped (no connectivity to Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, USB, Cellular, NFC, or any other network connections) design. Connectivity with the mobile app through QR codes. Store private keys, sign transactions, store crypto and NFTs.
● Complete offline, including firmware update: Complete 100% offline firmware updates using micro SD card, no need for USB ports.
● Anti-tamper & anti-disassembly features & Auto-selfdestruct: ELLIPAL intelligent anti-tamper technology promptly detects interference, wiping all data, including Polkadot-related assets, and presents would-be thieves with nothing but a discouraging dead-end screen. ELLIPAL cold wallet stands as an impregnable fortress, offline and unassailable, guarding Polkadot assets against all possible threats.
● Secret secondary wallet option & 2-factor authentication: Setup alternate accounts that shows up when the wallet is unlocked with your alternate password if you are being threatened. PIN entry, Password entry. Get extra secure with gesture pin, and numeric passwords.
☆ Features set of ELLIPAL Mobile App
● Support 40+ blockchains and 10,000+ tokens, including DOT/KSM chain, in line with this principle, we will also expand our development to include other Polkadot parachains.
● Manage NFTs
● MetaMask support
● WalletConenct V2
● Support staking, swap, buy crypto
● Access to Dapps
ELLIPAL is the leader of the air-gapped cold wallet and has been recognized by Forbes as the Top 3 cold wallets. lt has already provided users in 140 countries with a one-stop solution for secure, portable, and easy-to-use products and services. Its one-of-a-kind "air-gapped" (100% offline) security system and full-metal anti-tamper design protect users' assets from online and offline attacks.

Thanks for the proposal, I'm very happy to see more interest by the HW vendors.
In my opinion, you should not pick certain parachains and add support. It would be a much better experience to build a generic interface to be able to add any parachain. Polkadot Vault, which you may know, and has the same capabilities as Elipal, has pushed the boundaries in this regard. You should take a look at how the addition and managing of networks is done there.
I'm lacking details about how you want to handle transaction decoding and metadata upgrades. As you surely know, relay and parachains evolve constantly thanks to a very advanced governance mechanism in Polkadot. This means that the potential transactions that you must decode on the offline device can change and the device needs updates. Issuing updates of the metadata and requiring your users to load the new ones with an SD card for every single time there's a change in the runtime is not a good UX (disclaimer, I've maintained Stylo, which did exactly this). These constant upgrades is an annoyance that Polkadot Vault solved more or less well with a video QR code based metadata upgrades. But even more importantly, some work has been done regarding merklizing these metadata, in order to have trust-less metadata upgrade, and also potentially removing the need for upgrades.
You can learn more about it in the treasury proposal to fund this initiative https://polkadot.polkassembly.io/referenda/62 or with the recent talk from Zondax (the devs of the Polkadot Ledger app) at sub0 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wpFo-B5Pl2w
In its current state, this proposal seems to push features on the Elipal Dashboard (swapping, staking) and naively thinks DOT/KSM would be a relatively simple thing to add in terms of signing requirement for the offline device. But Polkadot is much more than a relay and a couple known parachains, and it evolves quickly, which is something HW wallet need to embrace.
