Avatar Accounts: Bringing The Whole Web3 To Polkadot

Avatar Accounts
Polkadot has tech. Ethereum has users.
Avatar Accounts bridge this gap by letting users interact with Polkadot SDK parachains directly through their existing Ethereum wallets— no downloads, no new keys, no friction.
For builders, it's a plug-and-play solution using a simple Substrate pallet and JavaScript SDK. For users, it’s just signing a message — and boom, they’re in.
We have built the Avatar Accounts version 1 and this proposal aims to fund the next 6 months of further development, support, integrations, and GTM efforts to bring Avatar Accounts to multiple parachains and dapps.

Let’s take Polkadot where the users already are.
About Us:
We bring proven experience from both Ethereum and Polkadot ecosystems. Our team won ETHIndia 2022 (the world's largest Ethereum hackathon) and are Polkadot Blockchain Academy graduates from different cohorts. We've been building in the Polkadot ecosystem for years, including mentoring at major hackathons and completing the Web3 Foundation's Decentralised Futures programme.
Tushar Ojha (Team Lead) is an ETHIndia Fellow who worked 1.5+ years at Subsocial Network as a frontend and developer experience expert. He left his job in August 2023 to focus full-time on building in the Polkadot ecosystem and won multiple hackathons organised by AngelHack, OneBlock and founded True Network (an on-chain attestation protocol on Polkadot).
This lean team that has demonstrated the ability to ship successful infrastructure. We're not just proposing Avatar Accounts - we're the team already delivering for Polkadot.

Hi,
As the chains with most retail users are already supporting EVM wallets (Hydration, Bifrost, Moonbeam), Could you tell us what is the benefit for the ecosystem here?
I'm not sure to understand what is the added value here.
Please provide real use cases showing you're covering something new in the ecosystem.
People can already connect their EVM wallet to the chains i mentionned.
Thx in advance.
@SuperDupont
Hi
I agree—I personally love the UX of hydration and wallet management for EVM wallets. We'd both love to see more chains support that, right?
The challenge is in the technical approach. Projects using full EVM execution simulation impact throughput, increase hardware requirements and costs, and add to chain load (with more state bloat risk from contract blobs). Plus, some chains simply don't want smart contract support but still want new users.
Avatar accounts solve this by letting EVM wallets manage substrate accounts natively—same great UX with less effort, complexity, and cost. This opens doors for app development without worrying about asset/token mapping across different environments.
The bigger opportunity? Polkadot parachains often miss riding general crypto trends like Farcaster. These platforms are perfect for getting new people to try our apps—like opening digital experience booths for our parachains.
So more chains get the experience we love, users get seamless access, and parachains get better ecosystem engagement.
