Tip for Tallahassee Advocacy
I would like to propose a tip for James Slusser and myself for our advocacy of the Polkadot ecosystem on Wednesday, April 16th during FBBA's "Blockchain Day" in Tallahassee. We both had an incredible day networking with legislators in both the House and Senate, answering their questions and telling them about Polkadot.
In every meeting we had with legislators and their aides, James went to great lengths to explain : 1) what Polkadot is; 2) how our governance system works; 3) why our security and scalability provide enterprise grade solutions via blockchain technology; 4) that the State of Florida should provide a legal framework for DAOs.
Later in the afternoon, we had an hour long roundtable with Commissioner Weigel and his staff at the Office of Financial Regulation, during which we both encouraged them to continue their work with the Florida Bar to investigate potential avenues to craft legal language that could be used for. a future bill during the next legislative session.
Moreover, thanks to DOT token holders previous decision to join the FBBA (Florida Business Blockchain Association), President Sam Armes made sure that Polkadot was recognized in both chambers before the House and Senate began conducting their legal business for the day.
You can read a longer reflection that I posted on X the next day HERE.
On a final note, I would like the community to know that neither of us was previously compensated to do this advocacy work. The tip will help defray the costs of getting to the capitol, and spending nearly 10 hours of our time there on behalf of Polkadot.
Thank you in advance for your consideration,
Phunky

Hello, What a great job you did, and it's not easy to reach those spaces. After your meetings, could you mention which topics were of greatest interest to the participants? and could you also mention if you presented any concrete proposals to advance a specific topic related with Polkadot? As an additional suggestion, I recommend taking a photo showing some of the moments where you were explaining the Polkadot topics. In the ones you share, we only see people talking, but for those who weren't there, it's impossible to validate those topics. Best regards.
@TheMvp07:
I would say the topic that was of the greatest interest was creating a business framework for DAOs here in the State of Florida. Granted, we had more time due to the hour long roundtable (whereas the other meetings with individual legislators were usually about 20 minutes and each delegate spent a few minutes sharing information about their business), which is why the conversation was more robust.
That is good feedback about taking photos (there are more) where James or I were speaking, but unfortunately I do not have any on my phone. To be honest, we were more focused on being present and having good conversations than creating photo opps.
Appreciate the feedback either way and will consider for the future!
Two of our best, doing great work. Aye for the lads
@Murphy:
Thanks for the kind words and the AYE vote, ser!
Gratefully,
