Polkadot Cloud Website Development (Phase 1: Q2 2025)
Hello Polkadot community!
We are pleased to propose the Polkadot Cloud Website Development Project, an initiative focused on developing a state-of-the-art platform showcasing the extensive suite of services offered by Polkadot Cloud (e.g., execution, settlement, data availability, object storage).
Problem + Solution
Decentralized cloud platforms like Akash and Spheron are quickly gaining traction, while major incumbents like Google's Web3 Cloud Portal fail to mention Polkadot entirely. No dedicated, well-designed platform exists for developers or enterprises to explore Polkadot Cloud offerings, limiting visibility and adoption.
To maintain its competitive edge, Polkadot needs a dedicated website that clearly communicates its cloud infrastructure, capabilities, and advantages to developers, enterprises, and the broader Web3 ecosystem. With approval of this referendum, we will build a world-class digital presence that cements Polkadot's leadership in decentralized cloud solutions â ensuring Polkadot Cloud remains top of mind.
Why a Dedicated Cloud Website?
đš Enterprise Adoption â Attracts businesses & devs exploring Web3 cloud solutions.
đš Tangible Reality â Turns Polkadot Cloud from concept â real, actionable product.
đš Competitive Edge â Positions Polkadot as the leading decentralized cloud.
đš Decentralization â Reduces dependency on a single website/controller.
What is Polkadot Cloud?
Polkadot Cloud is the next-gen decentralized cloud for Web3 buildersâoffering execution, settlement, data availability, object storage, and more to rival Web2 giants like AWS & Google Cloud. By leveraging the Polkadot Cloud, developers can deploy any Web3 application easily, affordably, and at scale.
đ Polkadot.cloud intends to serve as the official portal for:
âď¸ Cloud services overview & enterprise case studies
âď¸ Coretime/blockspace reservations
âď¸ Performance metrics & comparisons
âď¸ Enterprise/developer onboarding

Why Now?
đ¸ Buzz around Polkadot Cloud is growing rapidlyâbut no tangible offering exists today.
đ¸ Google Cloud, AWS, etc are moving into Web3âbut they aren't including Polkadot.
đ¸ Akash & Spheron are gaining traction in the decentralized/web3 cloud space.
đ¸ Polkadot Cloud needs a strong presence to defend its leadership position.

Please note: This proposal was submitted via my governance proxy account, linked to my verified stash/identity for Flez (1haHsRuCUCkbkPRmSrnfP8ps6cTaR2b5JCU5uNPUbxsVPbf), as Polkadot.js currently lacks Ledger signing support for sub-identities.
I like the proposal đ and think it is important to have. I think it should be open source though (or if build in framer as extendible as possible) so other devs can work on it too. afaik polkadot.com is closed source still.
