KPI: bringing 1M+ minimum user wallets through on-going user funnels at newly added, strategic Billfold venues.

This proposal funds the production of (4) {Bash} events for the first half of the year and placement of Billfold PoS into strategic venues, which in turn will generate a minimum of 1M wallets and transactions in 2025, alone.

The Polkadot community has trusted PMEI to bring Billfold into the ecosystem. Now that we've successfully done so, we want to drive as much usage to Polkadot as we possibly can through exisiting and new Billfold users. 

Every new event attendee at a Billfold venue = a new Polkadot wallet


Note: We are already in the late stage process of producing the official ETHDenver closing party. We are already in talks with the venues listed in our pitch deck, outlining which venues we’ll be bringing Billfold to. The gears are moving!

These venues are strategic in size, but also in location. These fans and atists are most likely to travel between the venues we’ve selected, making their Polkadot journey more impactful via loyalty rewards and payments.

Once a venue has Billfold, every attendee for every future event will get a Polkadot wallet and be able (and encouraged) to transact on the network.

In 2024, PMEI was focused on bringing together the infrastructure which would generate organic usage of the Polkadot network.

In 2025/ 26 PMEI is focused on creating self-sustaining user funnels through new venue partnerships, driving usage to the network through loyalty engagement and facilitating payments (leveraging USDC on Asset Hub) and continuing to build the music community on Polkadot through the {bash} brand.

Outcomes for this tranche: 1M+ users in 2025 and many more in perpetuity. Continuing to build an authentic, dedicated music community through the {bash} brand.

Thank you for your proposal. Our first vote on this proposal is AYE.

The Medium Spender track requires 50% quorum and simple majority of all voters according to our voting policy. This proposal has received seven aye and zero nay votes from ten members, with two members abstaining. Below is a summary of our members' comments:

In the referendum, several voters expressed varied opinions, with some abstaining due to uncertainty regarding the return on investment for events before the product's readiness. However, many supported the initiative, highlighting the potential benefits of a recent Billfold integration and the importance of gathering data to address existing challenges. They emphasized optimism around a growing user base and the project's ability to enhance Polkadot's adoption on a larger scale, reinforcing the value of initiatives that demonstrate technology's practical applications and meet key performance indicators.

Hi PMEI, 

Thank you for submitting the proposal. According to your presentation you partnered with 6 venues/events in 2024 that resulted in ~5.2k wallets created, 18k social media followers, 1M impressions (slightly ambiguous metric) and 7.5k newsletter subscribers. Given these outcomes could you please clarify how you calculated the estimated 1M+ new users anticipated to result from the events outlined in this proposal? Are there any metrics that can be provided about the number of transactions utilized to process payments at venues for which billfold partnered with in 2024? According to the presentation, every billfold user is required to create an account to settle transactions at venues using their payment system. So there were ~5k new customers using billfold in 2024 as a result of the partnered venues at the 6 events hosted? That seems odd given the claim of having a userbase of 2M+.

I agree that exposure is critical for adoption but given the size of the requested funds it would be great if you could provide more hard data to support current and projected claims pertaining to user engagement.
