Thanks for the post and for the intro @jslusser!
The suggestion comes at a good time, with PBA and easyA continuing their work and the Draper University Accelerator proposal currently in voting.
I'm curious to know more about how you identified the intersections mentioned above (1.how do those use cases work? 2. Who are the actors in the field?—particularly the ones from automotive, 3. Give some examples for fitness+gamefi).
We need support in changing the sentiment among VCs, and slide 8 of your very colorful pitch deck could be an asset here. You have to consider the current skeptic stance among VCs towards Polkadot. It would be a pity the 10 projects couldn't continue their work. Do you have any special channels for those VCs that could help to educate them?
@EricDistractive Thank you, Eric, for the excellent questions! They show what truly interests and engages the Polkadot community.
We are witnessing the market’s transformation in real time, and we see that cross-industry models, where creative industries mix with "hot" investment areas, have an advantage. For example, Switzerland’s first unicorn, MindMaze, combined MedTech and VR (the Metaverse) and became highly successful.
These intersections should work in both directions: non-creative startups should seek ways to integrate creative solutions and technologies, while creative startups should explore "hot" investment segments and offer themselves to startups in those areas for collaborations.
Even today, there are similar startups in the Polkadot dApps ecosystem — gamified fitness dApps like Heal3 and MoonFit, as well as Automotive MapMetrics, which allow users to earn crypto and NFTs while driving. And they have competitors on other blockchains.
You are right about investors in Web3 and specifically the Polkadot blockchain, and we are working to address this gap in the ecosystem. For example, in March 2025, along with the launch of our accelerator, we will release our global Creative Tech report, in which a whole section will be dedicated to Polkadot and its advantages. This is a bonus from us. Investors read our reports and base their decisions on our opinions.
Secondly, we have developed a full program for VCs focused on Web3 startups, which we presented in September at the Creative Economies Forum at the University of the Arts in Zurich, Switzerland. Starting at the end of this year, we will be piloting it together with our VC partner in Switzerland, and we hope to launch a public lecture series in spring-summer 2025 — just before our Demo Day.
But above all, we believe it is essential to restore investor confidence in Web3 in general — and against this backdrop, they will recognize the advantages of startups built on Polkadot.
I am always happy to help young startups! The highest state of a person is sharing knowledge! And here is a real accelerator project!
@PiotrFuel thank you for your trust and support. Please don’t hesitate to reach out and share your insights with us — your knowledge will be invaluable in helping us shape the ecosystem as well!
