My comment is more directed at the Polkadot community than at the proposal itself because I think it's an excellent proposal, and Connor has done an excellent job. But is Polkadot truly capable of paying for this sponsorship every year? Can we honestly compare ourselves to the other sponsors currently present in motorsports?
GM Guys.
First of all I want to thank Conor for all the work he has done, he has been during this year a worthy representative of Polkadot, taking the brand to many places and also with an honorable performance.
However, I must express that since the presentation of the first proposal, I had the opinion that the market to be reached did not seem to me the most correct for Polkadot and the target public to be reached, and the results obtained seem to me to confirm the concern I had with that proposal.
I greatly applaud the milestones achieved and the reach that has been shown for the “Polkadot” brand, but the deliverables do not seem to be adjusted to what we are pursuing as an ecosystem.
The only deliverables that are in line with our objectives are:
-
MVP underway with V-Brick and DeepBlock Labs with plans to demo a DRM (digital rights management) on Polkadot.
-
Polkadot vetted by Toyota Racing Development as one of two preferred blockchains
And yet, on the subject of Toyota I have not managed to get any recent public information beyond the hackathon they participated in along with Astar Network.
Given this, I feel that we are making a strong push on something that is not leading us to meet the goals we have at Polkadot.
I think we are at a critical moment in our finances as an ecosystem, where we have about 111 million dollars at the moment, why should we spend about 7% of our budget in a marketing campaign that is not really oriented to our objective as an ecosystem?
I think it would be interesting if we could focus on questions and answers like this:
How targeted is this proposal to increase Polkadot's TVL on DeFi?
How many new users will come to Polkadot with this proposal?
What new projects will be developed in Polkadot with this proposal?
How will this proposal increase the demand for blockspace in Polkadot?
