Polkadot Multi-Chain Explorer — Treasury Discussion & Roadmap Overview
This discussion introduces the Polkadot Multi-Chain Explorer — an open-source indexing and analytics platform designed to unify data across the entire Polkadot ecosystem.
Current explorers provide isolated, single-chain views. Our goal is to build the first fully multi-chain explorer with real-time indexing, unified data models, cross-chain visibility, and advanced analytics.
Below is the official roadmap structured by milestones, as published in the GitHub repository.
PHASE 1 — CORE ARCHITECTURE & RESEARCH
Deadline: February 28, 2026
Objectives:
• Analyze parachain APIs and data structures
• Design unified multi-chain indexing architecture
• Define universal data models (blocks, extrinsics, events, accounts, XCM)
• Research optimal sync strategies (full/fast/incremental)
• Prepare scalable PostgreSQL schema
Deliverables:
• Architecture specification
• Database schema v1
• Unified data model documentation
• Prototype of core indexing engine
PHASE 2 — MVP MULTI-CHAIN EXPLORER
Deadline: April 30, 2026
Objectives:
• Index Relay Chain + 3 parachains
• Implement ingestion pipeline for blocks/extrinsics/events
• Build REST API v1 (blocks, accounts, transactions, events)
• Implement simple frontend (blocks, extrinsics, events, accounts, search)
Deliverables:
• MVP indexer
• REST API v1
• Minimal explorer UI
• Deployment documentation
PHASE 3 — FULL MULTI-CHAIN SUPPORT & ADVANCED UX
Deadline: July 31, 2026
Objectives:
• Index all major parachains
• Implement XCM tracing and cross-chain activity
• Human-readable transaction interpretation
• Add analytics (metrics, account analytics, visualizations)
• Advanced UI dashboards with filtering and search
Deliverables:
• Full multi-chain indexer
• Real-time cross-chain insights
• Advanced production-ready UI
