PAPI Interactive Console: Expanding Developer Experience
OpenGov Medium Spender Track Discussion - $75,000 USD
Greetings to the Community
Hello Polkadot Community!
I'm excited to share our progress on the PAPI Interactive Console and discuss our proposal to scale this developer tooling initiative through OpenGov's Medium Spender Track.
What We've Already Delivered
Fast Grants Success Story
We're currently completing Milestone 2 of our Fast Grants project with demonstrated results:
- ✅ Online Platform: https://papi-simulator.aipop.fun
- ✅ Milestone 1 Completed: Full delivery documented
- ✅ Milestone 2 In Progress: Current delivery PR
- ✅ Community Templates System: Comprehensive documentation
- ✅ Production-Ready Export: Deploy-ready React components
Real Impact Already Achieved
- Monaco Editor Integration with full TypeScript support
- Multi-Network Support (Polkadot, Westend, Paseo, Kusama)
- Real-Time React Rendering with error boundaries
- Community Templates System enabling knowledge sharing
- Export Functionality for production deployments
Why This Matters Now
The community has already reached consensus: Developer Experience must be our #1 priority.
The identified problem:
"Parachain development is rough... bootstrapping taking 2-4 years" - alice_und_bob
Our opportunity:
- 95 active developers + 13,934 weekly commits = strong technical momentum
- Polkadot Hub launching Q3 2025 = perfect timing for onboarding tools
- Our console already working = proven solid foundation
What We Propose to Build
3 straightforward milestones, 12 weeks, $75k:
Milestone 1: Papi Tool Box (4 weeks)
- EVM tools for Ethereum developers to migrate
- Visual XCM builder for cross-chain development
- Hot reload and instant preview
Milestone 2: Enterprise Export (4 weeks)
- Export to Next.js, Vite, Remix
- Automated CI/CD and Docker
- PAL security scanning
Milestone 3: Community & Growth (4 weeks)
- Community project showcase
- Analytics and mentorship system
- Advanced templates and integrations
Quick Questions for the Community
Help us prioritize:
- Which frameworks do you use most? (Next.js, Vite, Remix, others?)
- Which parachains need templates urgently?
- What type of tutorial would be most useful? (DeFi, NFTs, Governance, Gaming?)
- What's the biggest pain point in Polkadot development today?
Simple Goals (1 year)
- 1,000+ monthly active developers
- 200+ projects created
- 50+ apps in production
- 75+ community templates
Investment
$75k = Excellent cost-benefit ratio
- Comparison: Polkadot-API received $327k
- Our console benefits the ENTIRE ecosystem
- We already have a solid foundation built

Hi team aipop.fun! Thanks for sharing this proposal — I really like the direction you’re taking to simplify the developer onboarding experience in the Polkadot ecosystem, especially with the visual interface and ready-to-deploy templates. This feels very much needed right now. 🙌
I do have a few suggestions that might help strengthen the proposal even further:
- Clarify the core problem a bit more — maybe include specific examples or quotes from real developers who struggled to onboard to Polkadot. That would help make the pain point more relatable and concrete for voters.
- Highlight what sets PAPI Console apart from existing tools like Substrate Playground, Tanssi, or Polkadot-JS Apps. A simple comparison table or a few bullet points could help clarify the unique value of this console.
- Make the milestones a bit more detailed — for example, what exactly will be delivered (repos, features, links), and how success will be measured. This would improve transparency and help voters understand what they’re funding.
- It might be helpful to include a brief outline of the post-delivery plan — how you’ll drive adoption (e.g. partnerships, hackathons, outreach), especially to reach targets like 1,000 MAUs.
- If you have any early traction or user feedback, that would be great to include — even basic analytics or quotes from devs who’ve used the platform would show that the tool is already solving real problems.
- Lastly, sharing more about your team’s experience (beyond just Fred) could help build confidence in your ability to execute. Even brief bios would go a long way.
Overall, I really appreciate the work you’ve done so far and I’m excited to see where this goes. Looking forward to the next steps — let’s build together! 🚀
@IrfanComel05 thanks for the tips, I used them to open the proposal
