Project Overview
Teckas Technologies is planning a 2-day onboarding event to help developers in Tamil Nadu learn about and get involved with the Polkadot ecosystem. Our goal is to introduce developers to the tools, technologies, and opportunities within Polkadot in a way that’s practical, engaging, and easy to follow.
The campaign will include interactive workshops, hands-on training sessions, and guided project building. At the end of the program, developers will present their projects, and the best ideas will be recognized with rewards.
Through this initiative, we hope to inspire dev talent in the region and help them take their meaningful steps into the world of Polkadot. We will also activate developer participation in collaboration with engineering colleges in Tamil Nadu through student clubs and technical societies to extend outreach and maximize impact.
Requested allocation: $700
Timeline: 2-days
Previous treasury proposals: N/A (this is my first proposal)
Context
India is home to a fast-growing developer community, and Tamil Nadu stands out as a key contributor with a strong presence of skilled software developers. Despite their potential, many developers in this region still lack exposure to Web3 technologies, particularly the Polkadot ecosystem and its real-world applications.
This campaign aims to address that gap by providing hands-on experience, structured learning, and mentorship tailored specifically for developers. By focusing on practical knowledge and project-based learning, we intend to introduce these professionals to Polkadot’s tools and technologies, enabling them to actively contribute to the ecosystem.
We are also collaborating with colleges across Tamil Nadu to conduct awareness and onboarding activities as part of this campaign, ensuring participation from promising developers across different institutions.
Objectives
- Onboard 100+ developers in Tamil Nadu into Polkadot.
- Provide hands-on experience with tools and frameworks in the Polkadot ecosystem.
- Foster innovation through a project challenge focused on real-world blockchain use cases.
- Help develop a strong group of skilled developers who can continue contributing to the Polkadot ecosystem.
- Build an active and growing local community of Polkadot developers in South India.
Event Structure
Day | Activity | Description |
---|---|---|
1 | Technical Onboarding | Sessions on Polkadot fundamentals, Substrate, and smart contracts. College activations via in-person/virtual engagements. |
2 | Project Sprint & Showcase | Teams build mini-projects using what they’ve learned and present them. Top 3 are awarded. Networking and feedback session. |
Marketing & Outreach Plan
To ensure maximum reach, engagement, and long-term visibility for this campaign, Teckas Technologies will implement a multi-channel marketing and outreach strategy before, during, and after the 10-day event. The campaign will focus on attracting and engaging experienced developers from Tamil Nadu who are ready to contribute effectively to the Polkadot ecosystem.
1. Digital Marketing Campaigns (Pre-Event & Ongoing)
Our in-house digital marketing team will run targeted campaigns focused on the Tamil Nadu region using platforms such as Google Ads, Meta (Facebook/Instagram), and YouTube.
These campaigns will include:
- Event teasers and countdowns
- Highlights of Polkadot use cases to spark interest
- Clear calls to action to register and participate
This will help us attract experienced developers who are looking to expand their knowledge and contribute to the ecosystem.
2.Tech Community Partnerships & College Activations
We will engage with local tech communities and engineering colleges in Tamil Nadu to:
- Promote the campaign through tech hubs, student clubs, and college networks
- Organize pre-event sessions to introduce Polkadot to students and developers
- Encourage college-level developer participation and ecosystem engagement
Our goal is to make this campaign a valuable learning opportunity for developers already active in tech industries and institutions.
3. Social Media Engagement
We will use Telegram, Discord, Twitter, and LinkedIn to actively communicate with the broader developer community. Activities will include:
- Daily updates and reminders during the campaign
- Sharing learning resources and developer toolkits
- Hosting short AMAs or Q&A sessions with mentors
- Featuring standout participants and community contributors
This will also help onboard developers into existing Polkadot online communities.
4. Collaboration with Polkadot Ambassadors & Developer Advocates
We plan to invite Polkadot ambassadors and Web3 developer advocates as:
- Speakers for technical sessions
- Mentors for guiding participants during the project phase
- Judges for the final demo day
Their presence will add credibility and direct ecosystem insights, while also building lasting connections between new developers and experienced ecosystem leaders.
5. Post-Event Content and Community Building
After the event, we will:
- Publish a post-event summary with key outcomes, photos, and project highlights
- Share recorded sessions and tutorials
- Create a dedicated Telegram/Discord group to keep participants engaged
- Continue to guide and support developers who wish to build on Polkadot after the campaign ends
This ensures that the impact of the campaign extends well beyond the 10 days and helps create a lasting community in the region.
