This is autocratic and vulnerable to corruptions

What can make us certain they don't negotiate privately and pass the proposals that secretly provide them with financial benefits?

Obviously we MUST start doing things differently 

In #1286 we've proposed a different approach to get Polkadot on track to have a real life utility to move it beyond speculative trading — I believe this is the way to end the price carnage, exponentially increase the demand for DOT, and make this coin a household item

But ChaosDAO saw us as outsiders that they lack any perhaps questionable "connections" to and slashed the proposal without even giving any thought to the idea

Dear Polkadot community, this needs to stop NOW so that Polkadot can have a bright future
