Hello everyone,

My name is Thang, the author and lead developer of Dedot, the next generation of Javascript client for Polkadot and Substrate-based blockchains.

If you haven't heard of Dedot before, Dedot has been around for almost a year with the initial support from W3F Grants Program. We've recently publish a post on Polkadot forum to officially introduce Dedot, we discussed about the limitations of Polkadot.js API and how Dedot address those issues and also come with more features that aims to bring the dapps development experience of Polkadot ecosystem to the next level.

This proposal is asking for funding from the treasury for 3 months (July to Sep) to continue the development of Dedot, please read our full proposal here.

We've put together a demo dapp at https://try.dedot.dev (source-code) to showcase dedot features & functionalities:

  • You can connect with networks via RPC Node or Light Client (smoldot), and via the new or legacy JSON-RPC APIs.
  • You can also open the dapp and interact with networks on mobile phone with the support of Coong Wallet. Make sure to open it on a native browse app (Chrome, Safari or Firefox), in-app browser might not work as expected.
  • There're more working example code on dedot repository that you might want to check out (ink! smart contracts, query storage, batch transaction, ...) or sending XCM message.
  • We'll be adding more working dapps to showcase more dedot features like interact with ink! smart contracts or send XCM in the future. Stay tuned for more!!

Please let us know if you have feedback or suggestions to improve Dedot. If you have any questions, we're happy to answer. Thank you!

I just read through the github Readme and this looks like a really cool project 🙂

Do you guys have a support chat or place to hang out to get support if needed?

Are you interested otherwise in joining a place like that on discord?

Thank you @serapath. It's great that you like it.

We do plan to set up a public Discord server so people can join there and ask questions or get support while using Dedot. In the meantime, if you have any questions while trying Dedot, please reach out to me directly on X (@realsinzii), Telegram (@realsinzii) or Discord (@sinzii), I'll try my best to assist. Thanks a lot! 😊
