PolkaLab | Maintenance & Promotion for the Chinese social media of Polkadot ecosystem
In order to promote Polkadot and further develop Polka ecology in China and help more developers to learn about Substrate, PolkaLab hereby requests funds to maintain daily operating expenses.
Background introduction
The Polkadot ecosystem is currently booming, but the awareness of Polkadot in China is not high. For ordinary investors, Polkadot is an unfamiliar concept. Language barriers make it difficult for developers to learn Substrate. There is a big lag in learning Substrate for Chinese developers. Polkalab focuses on promoting the Polkadot ecology on Chinese social media and the Internet, translating Polkadot related content into Chinese, providing help for Chinese developers and allowing everyone to devote themselves to their ideals and building the Polkadot ecology. PolkaLab started to promote the Polka ecology and help developers learn Substrate on various social networking platforms in China in November 2020, and plans to continue to maintain and develop our activities throughout the next year. This proposal hopes to obtain funds to maintain the operation of promoting Substrate technology and the Polkadot ecosystem.
PolkaLab requests funding from the Polkadot treasury to:
We need to solve several time-critical operational issues such as provision of high-quality translation and promotion resources. In order to keep up with the progress, we need translators, designers, technicians and media operators to work together to achieve this goal, which means that we need funds to cover staff salaries and pay for advertising and promotion. In addition, we also hope to organize off-line communication meetings for Polkadot-related technology developers in the future to promote exchanges and mutual learning.

- Every Friday, an article is updated on social media such as WeChat public account and Zhihu, including Polkadot ecology content and Substrate technical exchanges. The goal is to reach 5000 fans on each platform, 2000 readings and 100 reposts per article

In order to achieve the goal of spreading the Polkadot ecology, and implement all our plans. The PolkaOracle team requests 200 DOT to cover the following expenditures.

40 DOT as learning expenses for operating personnel and translators
60 DOT as various expenses for offline exchange meetings
Our team has gathered together for our faith in Polkadot ecology, as a start-up team, we are a group of young people who want to build and develop along with Polkadot by spreading the technology, but the fact is that we lack liquidity to pay our team members. It would be rather difficult to maintain high-quality creation and operations without income. We will spend all funds on furthering the team's goals.

Could you point me to some examples of the work done by the team?

There seems to me there is a lot of overlapping goals with other organisations working on the space, like Polkaworld: I am wondering if the community would benefit more from the two teams working in parallel and coordinated?
Regarding milestones: I think the ones specified in the proposal could be easily rewarded with tips until the organisation is ready to reach bigger milestones based on the work developed. If you think this is not possible, id like to understand:
- what does "daily operation and advertising costs of various social media platforms" mean? could you add more granularity to it?
- "for the cost of video production" - how many video series are you planning to produce? what are the topics? format? length?
- "learning expenses for operating personnel and translators" I am not sure what this means.
- "as various expenses for offline exchange meetings" - is this amount destined to meetups and events or what kind of meetings? what are the topics? and the reasoning behind it?
