Summary

We at Quinence are excited to introduce a detailed course on the Polkadot SDK on our Modern Fullstack platform, designed for developers eager to delve into Substrate, Polkadot, and Cumulus. We have previously conducted the first-ever Polkadot DevCamp partnering with the Web3 Foundation. Recognizing the lack of comprehensive and up-to-date educational materials in this domain, our course aims to fill this void with an in-depth, structured program that integrates theory with hands-on practice, suitable for various learning stages.

Problem Statement

We have conducted a thorough review of existing resources on the Polkadot SDK and found a significant gap. The main issue is the absence of a self-contained and expansive resource that can guide motivated learners to utilize Substrate and Polkadot proficiently. Although Substrate's documentation and various tutorials provide a starting point for building on the platform, they are not comprehensive learning materials. Many resources are either outdated, unstructured, not beginner-friendly, or overly specialized, lacking a balance between theory and practical implementation.

Moreover, while the Polkadot Blockchain Academy (PBA) offers in-depth knowledge, its in-person and selective nature restricts its reach. Similarly, other bootcamp programs and recently released speaker notes from PBA are not conducive to self-learning, particularly for those new to the ecosystem.

The Solution

To address these issues, our course aims to be a structured, in-depth educational path that combines theoretical knowledge with practical application, steering clear of isolated tutorials and fragmented learning experiences. This comprehensive approach will enable learners to progress from basic to advanced levels of the Polkadot SDK.

The course — hosted at our signature self-serve platform Modern Fullstack — is intended for a broad audience, including newcomers to the Polkadot SDK, application developers, enterprise tech teams, and those involved in the Polkadot ecosystem.

Please apply for funding after getting some positive results, instead of using promise and PPT

Thank you for taking an interest in the proposal, really appreciate it!

We have indeed worked on building the curriculum for the first ever Polkadot DevCamp (40 selected participants out of 1600 registered), which in turn became a series. We were the teachers there as well.

This proposal is to expand that work into something more concrete and accessible to everyone, instead of only one-off events.

We have detailed about our engagements in the proposal. Happy to discuss more and answer questions!

It looks like this is a paid, for-profit course, and thus I'm unclear on why it should be funded by the Treasury. Am I missing something?

Hi @Mister_Cooooooooooole

We intend to keep the course free and accessible to everyone, hence the funding requested from Treasury. We have communicated back and forth with Parity and Web3 Foundation when creating the outline and proposal.

We have also detailed this in the proposal document. Happy to answer any other questions!
