Scholarship Fund for Substrate Developer Academy
The Acala team is running a Substrate Developers Academy to help teach developers how to build on Substrate!
Our goal is to create a hands-on and affordable educational environment where developers can learn from existing developers in the Polkadot ecosystem. We want to give developers the tools (education and mentorship) to build the next great DApp or Parachain on Polkadot.
The course has been developed by Bryan Chen, co-founder of Acala, and has involvement from several team members from Parity Technologies and across the Polkadot ecosystem. It currently has 40 applicants planning to attend.
Our Ask:
We are submitting a proposal for Council's consideration to fund 6 scholarships so that developers who find the cost of taking the course prohibitive can still attend. We are asking for a one-time payment of 643 DOTs.
You can find comprehensive details, including course curriculum and scholarship evaluation process here:

That's amazing! Bryan has already taught more than 100+ Substrate developers in China! I have no problem supporting this!

I'll support this proposal. I actually think the doc is missing information that would make it more convincing. For example,
- Ricardo and I are only two of six tutors. The course has tutors from lots of companies, which I think is a strength because it's a sign of increasing decentralization of Substrate. Not only are there users, there are teachers developing in the ecosystem.
- The Industry Connect website says that, "The revenue generated from this program will be used to sponsor new startup projects and give back to the Polkadot/Substrate community." The proposal should mention that these funds will not just help this wave of students develop their skills, but plan to go toward funding another project in the ecosystem.
