Cryptozilla - retroactive and continuation of video content production about Polkadot. (Big Tipper)
Hello, I am Max and as of today I am a Polkadot Ambassador. I opened this discussion to discuss my Polkadot treasury proposal for the tip for the video production on my Cryptozilla YouTube Channel.
Introduction:
Over more than two years, I have made 233 Polkadot related videos. Thanks to my long-term, dedicated effort to create the best quality video content about the Polkadot ecosystem, my YT channel has become one of the biggest channels focused on the Polkadot. Since my channel launched, all video content received more than 465,000 views to date (see KPIs in the full proposal).
The purpose of this proposal:
With this proposal I ask the Polkadot Treasury for a tip for the production of 25 English educational videos. This proposal is partially retroactive, as 10 videos have already been delivered, and partially serves as funding for the continuation of video content production about the Polkadot on my channel. I am dedicated to continue educating about the Polkadot and its Web3 vision the best I can.
I set the cost of each video at $160, hence will be asking for $4,000 worth of approximately 990 DOT, with DOT price at $4,03 (7-day EMA).
10 Delivered videos:
- Polkadot vs. Cardano Comparison (406 views)
- Polkadot vs. Avalanche Comparison (328 views)
- Gavin Wood’s Best 10 Quotes about Polkadot (439 views)
- Polkadot vs. Cosmos Comparison (466 views)
- Polkadot's Next Gen Architecture: Cores Are a Gamechanger (319 views)
- Polkadot vs. Ethereum Comparison (699 views)
- Astar Network Updated Tokenomics 2.0 (575 views)
- Polkadot Wiki: Best Resource to Learn about Polkadot (213 views)
- Polkadot Blockspace Ready to Drive Mass Web3 Adoption (451 views)
- How Many Users There is in Polkadot? (862 views)
The remaining 15 videos will be delivered over the next 2 months (1-2 videos/week) and will include:
• 2 more comparison videos:
- Polkadot vs. Solana
- Polkadot vs. NEAR Protocol
• Videos explaining Polkadot’s technology: blockspace, cores, XCM, OpenGov
• dApps tutorials
• Ecosystem news videos
I will report the KPIs of each video here with 10 delivered videos already included.
Why comparison videos:
As shown, comparison videos have lately been an essential part of my video production. I believe that comparing Polkadot with other ecosystems is one of the most efficient ways to reach out to other ecosystems communities, introduce them Polkadot’s superior technology and potentially bring them over to the Polkadot ecosytem.
Improvements since my first treasury proposal on Kusama:
This is my second treasury proposal. The first one in April on Kusama has been rejected (Ref. 169). I took the community feedback to heart and for this proposal I’ve improved several things:
• I have become a Polkadot Ambassador
• Lowered the cost of each video to $160
• Made this proposal retroactive by 40%, as 10 videos from the total 25 have already been delivered
• I improved the quality of my video content – I still keep producing a great amount of helpful ecosystem dApps tutorials, but I partially switched from reporting ecosystem news more to explaining Polkadot’s technology and comparing Polkadot with other ecosystems
• I set my Polkadot on-chain identity
Conclusion:
I provide all the necessary information as well as Cryptozilla channel KPIs and vision in the full proposal. I am happy to answer all your questions in the discussion.
Thank you for your time and feedback.

I personally think we should stop paying for these videos. By making an objective evaluation these videos are not worth the expense even if for a small tip and by continuing to finance these things we encourage other YouTubers to make a living from these videos thanks to governance while the YouTube channel should self-sustain as a sign of interesting videos. My subjective assessment is that these videos are certainly of better quality than other recently approved YouTube videos. So the discussion is whether we should continue to fund these things or not.
Hello, I don´t understand why some community members still believe it is better do burn DOT instead of rewarding genuine, long-term community creators, who make the effort to educate about Polkadot. This negative attitude to creators doesn´t benefit the ecosystem and does exactly the opposite, potentially resulting in less educational content about Polkadot being available. Don´t we all wish for a much greater adoption? Quality content with the focus on Polkadot technology is just one little piece out of many in that direction.
With this discussion I was hoping for more constructive feedback about what price/tip the community thinks is appropriate for my content, and perhaps even more broadly - what the community expects from ecosystem content creators. Unfortunately, your comment is the opposite, as you said videos about Polkadot made by community members don´t deserve any tip/reward.
Educating about Polkadot is essential, very beneficial for the ecosystem in the long term and I think selected creators should be supported by the treasury. Even the official Polkadot Treasury website describes tips as:”a way to reward work, that has already been done, such as content production (video tutorials, news and tech explainers“).
Each Polkadot content creator is unique, proposing different value/cost to the community. I aimed to propose a good value proposition, that really benefits the ecosystem. If the creator makes educational content, that the Polkadot community finds valuable (i.e. engages with such content) why the creator should not deserve a reasonable tip? Of course, the big question still is what is a reasonable tip.

Hello Max!
KryptosChain has done a video covering this proposal with the feedback if you or anyone else would like to watch, it can be found here.
With that being said, I would be happy to vote Aye for this once it goes on-chain.
Good luck!
