Treasury Proposal for Missing Link: Boosting Developer Adoption
Our proposal is “Boosting Developer Adoption for Polkadot Ecosystem Projects” and we are sharing it before the official submission for community input and feedback.
We are Missing Link, an established brand in web3 recruiting in Europe, to provide these services. Missing Link has a track record of providing high-quality recruiting services to the blockchain industry, as you can see from the full proposal linked below.
As the Polkadot ecosystem continues to expand, it is critical that there are enough skilled developers to support the growth. We propose to place a total of 15 Rust developers to different companies and projects within the Polkadot ecosystem through three milestones. Companies who qualify and are in the Polkadot ecosystem can utilize the funds from this treasury proposal to receive recruitment services for Rust developers for their project.
In total, we are requesting $360k USD from the Polkadot treasury to fund this project. We believe that this investment will have a significant impact on the Polkadot ecosystem, by ensuring that there are enough skilled developers to support the growth of the network.
Thank you for your consideration of this proposal and we are looking toward the community’s feedback before submitting the proposal on-chain.
Here is the link to the full proposal with all the relevant details, processes and qualifiers.

Why should this be funded by the Treasury, and not by the teams hiring the developers? Are we suddenly subsidizing all business operation expenses now? If so, I have some of my own staff salaries that I'd love to make someone else pay for...
Hey, thank you for stating your concerns. We want to be clear in this proposal that it funds the fee for finding Rust developers in Polkadot ecosystem companies. This proposal does NOT request funding to pay for developers' salaries. Is there a part of the proposal that you found unclear about that? Please let us know! We know how hard it is for teams to find the right developers for them, which is why we believe this proposal will help teams grow and therefore make an impact on the Polkadot ecosystem.
This proposal is aimed at small teams in the Polkadot ecosystem who are inexperienced in finding top talent in a very competitive landscape for Rust developers. With this proposal, teams with smaller budgets are now placed on a level as larger teams with budgets to spend on recruiting services.
I would assume that if a small team can't afford a 25% finders fee for recruiting a developer, they can't afford the developers salary of ~$100k. This would only make it easier for you to charge your 25% fee as it comes from faceless token holders, and not a team :)
