In order to achieve real change for tomorrow, we need to educate the leaders of today, many of whom attend the WEF: this presents a unique opportunity to build brand awareness and interest for Polkadot, build connections with enterprise audiences, business, tech, and mainstream media groups so that they better understand blockchain technology, take part in the Web3 roadmap and see Polkadot as the best technology platform for building blockchain projects. 

The goals of this proposal are:

- to build Polkadot awareness among policymakers, business executives and CEOs, top-tier journalists and technologists, as these people are usually not part of our audience

- to create interest and establish strong relationships with them

- to present Polkadot products/networks/platforms/solutions

- to show the business audience how they could benefit from Polkadot products/networks/platforms/solutions and how Polkadot is already applicable in real-life cases, beyond DeFi

- to make the media audience understand blockchain technology and Polkadot and how blockchain can impact the way we live and do business 

- to educate the leaders of today in order to deliver real change for tomorrow.

Proposal: Polkadot at Davos during the World Economic Forum’s Annual Meeting 2022

Sub0 is the conference for developers building at every level of the Polkadot tech stack — from custom layer-1 blockchains to dApps and smart contracts, infrastructure, tooling, cross-chain interoperability solutions, and more. 

During this event, which took place in LX Factory in Lisbon on November 28th and 29th, 2022, Web3 Foundation, together with the teams of Apillon, Phala Network, Astar Network and Manta Network in representation of the entire Polkadot ecosystem brought together the global Polkadot developer community. 

Sub0 provided an open introduction to next-generation multichain networks, as well as a chance for existing Polkadot and Substrate developers to deepen their skills and connect with each other. There was separate content for experienced devs and those new to the ecosystem. Each attendee could follow their own path by attending more intimate talks and workshops in the Starter and Builder spaces. Those who are new could learn about the Polkadot tech stack, Substrate, Web3, blockchain and walk away with a clear understanding of the ecosystem. Experienced builders could dive into technical topics, build during workshops, see new blockchain SDK tools, and hear about the latest developments on Polkadot and beyond.

For this edition of Sub0, we wanted 50% of our audience to be new developers from outside of our ecosystem. This includes people who are not building on Substrate but are curious to learn more. By opening our doors to developers who are not (or only slightly) familiar with our tech, we can bring in more potential builders and expand our market reach and visibility.

Sub0 — The Polkadot Developer Conference, November 28-29, 2022 in Lisbon, Portugal

This proposal aims to cover the costs of Polkadot's participation as a Title sponsor at the Token2049 Singapore conference held from 28 -30 September 2022, encompassing a pavilion style expo booth with 14 participating ecosystem teams, branding on conference materials and main sponsorship of the conference closing party. Polkadot efforts were spearheaded by the Web 3.0 Technologies Foundation.

TOKEN2049 is a flagship crypto event, organized annually in Singapore and London, where founders and executives of the leading Web3 companies share their view on the market. This event brings together the global Web3 industry, uniting entrepreneurs, investors, developers, industry insiders and global media.
Over 7000 people attended the event with over 73% of the audience coming from a C-level/VP/Director background. Attendees from more than 50 countries participated, joined by 100 speakers and journalists gathering in Singapore to hear the latest cryptocurrency developments and their ancillary products and technologies.

The Polkadot community recognized this conference as a good way to raise brand awareness, generate and nurture leads, spotlighting Polkadot’s value propositions and its ecosystem quality, diversity and growth.

Polkadot @Token2049, 28 -30 September 2022 in Singapore

**ETH Denver, February 24th - March 5th in Denver, Colorado**, flagship event of the Ethereum community draws in a lot of the active community as well as newcomers to the space. By showing up at ETHDenver awareness and builder and developer leads with high interest in blockchain are generated - newbies looking to build their first project and/or contribute to the tech stack, as well as teams already building in the Ethereum community and looking for new project opportunities. In addition to new leads, the event is a great opportunity to connect with those already familiar with Polkadot, and grow the relationship.

Polkadot successfully participated in last year’s edition as a Diamond sponsor, and organized several ETH Denver BUIDLWeek talk sessions. For this year’s event, the goal is to give Polkadot and the ecosystem teams even more visibility and to book a higher-level sponsorship package. The participation would encompass a Cypher sponsorship package, and a mini summit during BUIDLWeek.

Polkadot @ ETHDenver 2023, February 24th - March 5th in Denver, Colorado

This proposal aims to cover the costs of Polkadot's participation (spearheaded by the Web3 Technologies Foundation) as a Block 3 sponsor at the Coindesk Consensus conference, which was held from April 26-28, 2023, in Austin, Texas. It includes a 20 x 40 booth, **15 participating ecosystem teams**, branding on conference materials and main sponsorship of the Coindesk anniversary event. The proposal also covers Polkadot’s participation in the Coindesk Consensus hackathon, called the “HackerEarth Web3athon”, which occurs between April 17th (start of hacking) and June 30th (winners announcement). **Seven ecosystem teams** participated under the Polkadot brand to promote their own prizes and challenges. 

The event was attended by over 20,000 participants from around the world, including entrepreneurs, executives, Web3 creators, NFT collectors, brand and marketing professionals, government officials, and blockchain developers. By participating as a sponsor, Polkadot showcased its ecosystem, healthy growth of its community, and the quality of its technology. As the flagship event in the industry, Consensus offered an excellent opportunity to form connections with new builder teams, convert those considering Polkadot, and support the growth of ecosystem projects while amplifying their adoption efforts.

SXSW Conference gets over 40K attendees and features a variety of tracks (15 tracks) that focus on the most important breakthroughs in technology, film, culture, and music. Of particular interest is the Tech Industry Track featuring the people, platforms, software, hardware and virtual systems that are driving the world’s next wave of change. 

Topics featured include AI/ML, blockchain, cryptocurrency, security and privacy, XR, social media platforms, enterprise solutions, robots, IOT, etc. In addition to the tech track, the conference features several tracks dedicated to various industry verticals such as Energy, Game industry, Health & Med tech, Market & Economies, Startups, Transportation, Travel, Metaverse and XR, etc.

This event increased Polkadot brand visibility and connections to a Web2 audience of startups, enterprises/brands, thought leaders and influencers, media, and consumers. It is important to be top of mind for this audience as they are early in their Web3 journey. Polkadot Developers Conference // sub0 September 19-20, 2023 in Lisbon, Portugal - Final tranche

Polkadot Decoded is the Flagship conference and the biggest yearly event focused on all things Polkadot, it was back for its fourth edition on June 28th and 29th, 2023, with a fully hybrid experience of online and in-person events. Polkadot Decoded aimed this year to evolve into a general assembly for all things Polkadot/Kusama.

In 2023 the Polkadot community came together in Copenhagen, Denmark with an increased capacity and satellite events hosted regionally in the USA, Europe, LatAm and China in July. These satellite events aimed to be regionally focused. Whereas the Flagship event was globally focused.

The program line up featured presentations, panels, workshops, demos, fireside and barcamp chats. The focus was on curating content that is more high-level for a broader audience as well as attracting decision makers and enterprises into the room. The target audience crossed over all six of our target personas: Business Decision Maker, Technical Decision Maker, both from startups and Enterprises interested in Polkadot, Builders from teams in the Polkadot ecosystem, the Polkadot community, Developers, Polkadot enthusiasts and supporters.
